PLATFORM FOR ARTISTIC RESEARCH & PROFESSIONALISATION ::: KICK OFF AT 6TH & 7TH OCTOBER, RINGLOKSCHUPPEN RUHR ::: APPLY UNTIL 1ST OCTOBER
What does Cheers for Fears Transit offer? The platform for artistic research & professionalisation offers young artists the opportunity to discuss their ideas for innovative, transdisciplinary work in a creative environment, accompanied by colloquia and mentors in a research process. The jounrey is the reward – the completion of an artistic work is welcome, but the focus lays on the development of the participants, their professionalisation and their exchange with artists from other disciplines.
6th & 7th October 2017, Ringlokschuppen Ruhr Mülheim
At the beginning of the two-day workshop, artists will present their projects, react on feedback and have the opportunity to win fellow-artists for their ideas. Experienced actors from the scene accompany the process and provide help with open questions. In the end, the initiators once again have the opportunity to pitch their projects; up to 5 positions are selected.
The selected artists meet regularly to find out about their plans and the further development, give feedback and are supported in their search for suitable artistic mentors and places for an initial research.
At universities and production houses, short initial researches take place to develop the project further artistically. These researches are accompanied by mentors.
The artists are supported by Cheers for Fears Transit to find artistic mentors for their project, which accompany the research as well as the further project development.
In order to provide an insight into the researches, to win partners for a production in 2018 and to reflect the format Transit as a whole, the project will end with a final Forum in December 2017.
Who is adressed by the Transit project? Cheers for Fears – Transit adresses art students at the end of their studies and young artists at the beginning of their careers looking for challenges beyond their educational horizons; artists who are interested in the exchange and discussion with peers from other disciplines; artists who long for experimental constellations. Transit therefore adresses team players who are interested in art as an exploratory research. Transit aims at artists who are interested in independent and self-determined work, but at the same time also do not shy away from criticism and feedback from colleagues. Cheers for Fears Transit would like to get together artists from different educational backgrounds such as media art, composition, performance, creative writing, scenography and dance. The participating artists have the opportunity to take part in a creative transfer of ideas and knowledge: among themselves and in dialogue with mentors.
Application is open for individual artists who are still searching co-workers for their artistic enterprise as well as for already existing groups.
How to apply? By sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org until the 1st of October, which includes a motivation letter, a short project proposal (about one page each) and biographical information about the project initiators.
Cheers for Fears Transit is made possible by the program „Individuelle Förderung von KünstlerInnen, Künstlern und Kreativen“ (IKF) funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in cooperation with the European Center of Creative Economy (ecce) and the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr.
