PLATFORM FOR ARTISTIC RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION
Apply until 28 February ::: Pitching on 6 March 2021 ::: Deutsch
WHAT DOES CHEERS FOR FEARS TRANSIT OFFER?
From spring to autumn 2021, the platform for artistic research & production offers young artists the opportunity to put their ideas for innovative, transdisciplinary works up for discussion in a creative environment and, accompanied by colloquia and mentors, to develop them further in a research process. Cheers for Fears also provides financial support. The journey is the goal – the completion of an artistic work is desired, but the focus is on the development of the actors, their production and their exchange with artists from other disciplines.
WHAT’S PART OF THE TRANSIT-PROGRAM IN DETAIL?
Saturday, 6 March, 11:00-16:00 in the digital world
Applicants will pitch their projects to a jury of experienced actors from the scene and artists from previous Transit rounds. Up to 5 positions will be selected.
The up to 5 selected artists/ artistic teams meet regularly to discuss their projects and further development, give each other feedback and are supported in finding suitable artistic mentors and locations for research & presentation.
Brief initial research takes place at universities and production houses in order to further develop the project artistically. These researches are accompanied by mentors.
Cheers for Fears Transit supports the artists in finding artistic mentors for their project, who accompany the research and further project development.
The selected artists and teams will receive a research and production grant of up to 12,000 € each. Further co-financing is possible, but not necessary.
In order to give an insight into the research, to present interim results and to win partners for a further production and to reflect on the Transit format as a whole, the project will be presented with all participants on 30 September 2021 in the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr.
WHO IS THE TRANSIT PRODUCTION PLATFORM AIMED AT?
Cheers for Fears Transit is aimed at art students at the end of their training and young artists at the beginning of their careers who are looking for challenges in their artistic practice that go beyond their respective study horizons; who are interested in exchange and discussion with actors from other disciplines and long for experimental constellations – of actors, media and methods. Transit is therefore aimed less at lone warriors than at team players who are interested in art as an exploratory finding. It is aimed at actors who are interested in independent and self-determined work as freelance artists, but who at the same time do not shy away from criticism and feedback from colleagues. Transit aims to bring together artists with a wide variety of educational backgrounds (performance, acting, dance, media art, composition, scenic writing, scenography, etc.). The participating actors are given the opportunity of a varied transfer of ideas and knowledge – on the one hand among themselves, and on the other in dialogue with mentors.
WHAT IS CHEERS FOR FEARS?
Founded in 2013, the Cheers for Fears initiative challenges NRW’s art colleges with their fixed disciplines and the inventive spirit of young artists: Its aim is to bring students and graduates of artistic degree programmes into contact with each other across genres, to encourage collaborations and to exchange ideas about working strategies, aesthetics and perspectives.
