Cheers for Fears, mobile academy and network, is looking for a project manager on a freelance basis for the middle of January to the end of March 2022. The position includes coordination, communication, controlling, programme design and PR. The project will be realised in Düsseldorf together with the Cheers for Fears Team and Tanzhaus NRW.

The festival is an interdisciplinary artistic meeting place where art students, young artists and their audiences come together. Players from all fields, be it digital arts, directing, composition/music, acting/performance, dance, film, visual arts, scenography, theatre studies, art education and many more, will get to know each other, show to each other and to the audience artistic works and works in progress and give each other feedback. The festival will start with workshop and exchange formats and then culminate in a panel discussion and artistic showings on several stages/rooms at the tanzhaus nrw on the festival Friday and Saturday.


We are looking for an aspiring curator, programme designer or production manager who has already gained initial experience with the design and implementation of collaborative programmes or events, e. g. through student festivals, assistantships, work at a university, etc. The project management coordinates the festival, manages the finances in consultation with Cheers for Fears and communicates with all project participants, including the participating artists and the tanzhaus nrw. The Cheers for Fears team is available as an advisory and helping partner. Working hours and place of work are determined by the project manager. We assume an average workload of 14 hours per week or approx. 150 working hours in total. The fee is based on the recommendations of the federal art associations.

The Cheers for Fears initiative, founded in 2013, organises festivals, workshops and academies with and for art and art theory students in NRW. The aim is to bring students and young artists into contact with one another across genres, to stimulate collaborations and to exchange ideas about work strategies, aesthetics and perspectives.
